Title: Optimal Transport and Geometrical Optics
Abstract: We present a deep connection between the Monge optimal transport problem in Economics and the foundations of Geometrical Optics. In particular we derive a natural extension of the Fermat principle of least time. The theoretical work is applied to problems in imaging and non-imaging optics.
