Mathematical Biology

June 14, 2023 - 10:00am

During our MathBio seminar this week, Ali will provide a high-level introduction to graph neural networks (GNNs): GNNs are a type of neural network that can be used to process data which are represented as graphs. We will discuss and review the motivation, requirements, and considerations for GNNs. To better illustrate the utility of GNNs, Ali will walk through an example of constructing a GNN from a system of PDEs defined on a continuous manifold. We will also discuss opportunities for leveraging GNNs for computational biology and bioinformatics. This talk is meant to be high-level and serve as a soft entry to the vast and complex world of GNNs.
