Speaker: Noemi Petra (Assistant Professor, Applied Mathematics, University of California, Merced)

Talk:  Introduction to hIPPYlib

This week, I will talk about "hIPPYlib: An Extensible Software Framework for Large-Scale Inverse Problems Governed by PDEs". I will focus on the basics of hIPPYlib (i.e., what is the library for, what type of inverse problems you can solve with hIPPYlib, on the existing applications/examples implemented in hIPPYlib, and will show how to start adding a new application/example). If you have time, I invite you to check out the following recent arXiv submission that goes with my talk: https://arxiv.org/abs/1909.03948. The numerical results showed in this paper were obtained using hIPPYlib version 2.3.0 and FEniCS 2017.2, a Docker image containing the preinstalled software and examples can be downloaded at https://hub.docker.com/r/hippylib/toms .
