Both the MATH 011/012 and MATH 021/022 series introduce Calculus, but they emphasize different things. MATH 011/012 focuses on applications of Calculus but spends less time on the theory behind it — more topics are covered, but in less detail. MATH 021/022 provides more justification for the results obtained and is more appropriate for students who will continue taking more mathematics classes.

Can I take Math 022 after completing Math 011?

What can I do if I do not pass the competency exam but would like to take Math 022 after passing Math 011?
You may take Math 021. You will not receive credit for the class, but you can use it to satisfy prerequisites for Math 022.

Isn't Calculus useless now that we've got AI?
If you want to provide added value to what AI can produce, then understanding calculus and being able to think clearly about mathematics in general is an excellent skill to have.
Is it easier to cheat in Math 011/012 or in Math 021/022?
This depends on the instructor. We generally try to catch all cheaters, as cheating defeats the whole purpose of taking the class in the first place. But not everybody is equally successful at it.
