Bio:
Alondra Maravilla is an active and warm-hearted female student with a passion to help people and contribute to society using her math knowledge and experience. While maintaining a consistently high GPA (in fact, the highest cumulative GPA among the graduating class of math majors), Alondra has been actively involved in many math and STEM-related activities in and outside of campus. Since she transferred to UC Merced in Fall 2022, Alondra has been working for the Math Center helping many undergraduate students with their math. Alondra is also the vice president of the Math Club and was instrumental in establishing the club. Alondra has been taking care of the weekly club activities and making the club a place where people can exchange exciting math ideas. Owing to her efforts, many female students are participating in the club, which is not always the case for math-related activities. Alondra is also interested in outreach activities for high and middle school students. One of the most recent events was the Society of Women Engineers’ Girls in STEM conference this March, to which more than two hundred girls hoping to pursue a STEM career were invited. Alondra organized and led a couple of math activity workshops and a career panel. She is interested in Math Education and hopes to become a math professor in an area like Merced.
The Applied Mathematics Departments enthusiastically supports Alondra Maravilla’ nomination for the “Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award” for her excellent academic performance and for her contribution to the Applied Mathematics Department and to the UC Merced community in general.
