At the May 7, 2025, Meeting of the Merced Division of the Academic Senate, it was announced that Prof. Lei, Yue is this year's recipient of the Senate Award for Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching for Senate Faculty.  This award recognizes a Senate faculty member for exceptional achievement in undergraduate teaching and their lasting impact on student learning and academic excellence.  The citation for the award reads as follows:

"Dr. Lei, Yue has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to undergraduate education, with a career at UC Merced spanning nearly two decades. Since 2006, she has taught a wide range of mathematics courses, consistently promoting student success through innovative, inclusive, and engaging instruction. Her transformation of Math 05 - an entry-level course taken by most UC Merced students - through a UCOP grant is a testament to her dedication to accessibility and academic equity. Beyond the classroom, she has made significant contributions to curriculum development and institutional leadership. Her efforts include founding the UC Math Center and the Merced Math Teachers Circle, both of which extend support for mathematics learning and teaching across the campus and community. She has also successfully secured and implemented multiple competitive grants to enhance student outcomes."

"Letters in support of her nomination praise her as a gifted educator, visionary program builder, and inspirational mentor whose work has elevated the culture of teaching and learning in mathematics at UC Merced."

Congratulations, Prof. Lei, Yue, for the well-deserved recognition!
