Ryan Milstrey

Bio:

We are pleased to award Ryan Milstrey the Fall Outstanding Graduating Award in Applied Mathematics. It was a pleasure to have Ryan in our classes, in particular in math 122: Complex Variables and Applications, math 126: Partial Differential Equations, math 140: Mathematical Methods for Optimization, and math150: Mathematical Modeling during Springs 2023, 2024 and 2025, respectively. Ryan stands out as an exceptionally engaged, hardworking, and intelligent student. He is focused, dedicated, and always prepared to ask questions. His work ethic and mathematical understanding are truly impressive. Ryan’s academic accomplishments have been recognized by the Dean’s and Chancellor’s Honors List and he was one of the finalists for the 2025 Computing Research Association Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award. After graduating, Ryan plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Computer Science and become an expert in machine learning. The Applied Mathematics department is also grateful for Ryan’s contribution as math tutor and learning assistant. We are proud to have Ryan as one of our graduates and enthusiastically supports his nomination for the “Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award” for his excellent academic performance. We all wish Ryan all the best in his future career.
